Brandon Fortino
Founder & CEO
Brandon Fortino originally hails from Lansing, Michigan. He was inspired early by technology research and development; as a high school student he led a group to construct a tunneling scanning electron microscope and since then he has been hooked. One of Brandon's earliest professional activities involved the commercialization of Nanotechnology at Michigan State University's Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.
With over 15 years of professional experience as a systems engineer, Brandon feels very passionately about the need for the rapid commercialization of technologies to establish a sustainable equilibrium between prosperous human civilization and the environment we have inherited. He is very focused on building supportive organizations that involve customers in every step of product development, from initial vision to solution delivery.
Jayson Castillo
Board Member
Jayson Castillo brings over 25 years of experience in business and technology operations, strategic portfolio management, and management consulting to NewType Group. As a strategic advisor and leader, he has successfully navigated complex operational landscapes, founded multiple ventures, and led numerous M&A activities at companies and institutions such as Capitol One, Dell/EMC, Expedia, IBM/Apptio, and MIT.
Jayson excels in building high-performing teams and driving innovation, supporting NewType Group's mission to advance the circular economy and foster a sustainable relationship between industry and humanity.
Jayson believes in harmonizing the needs and economics of products like plastics in our global society, emphasizing that our long-term survival depends on achieving a balance that benefits humanity. His commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies and holistic business strategies ensures NewType Group continues to pioneer solutions for a stable and thriving ecosystem for future generations.
Cassa Hanon
Board Member
Cassa is a consultant focused on team and leadership development. She works with organizations to build cross-functional collaboration, innovation, and experienced design capabilities. Cassa also serves as a coach and course facilitator for Standford Graduate School of Business Executive Education.
Cassa spent most of her career in technology, leading teams at Boeing, Weyerhaeuser, Starbucks, Disney, Oracle, and various startups. She holds a BS in Computer Science from Washington State University, and the Stanford GBS LEAD Certificate in Leading Corporate Innovation.
John Jacobs
Board Member
John brings over 25 years of experience in the corporate ecosystem, specializing in technology solutions for a diverse range of customers and partners. He holds an undergraduate degree in business management and a master's in cybersecurity.
John's career began in the early years of computers, focusing on hardware and software networking for some of the world's largest service provider networks. With a keen eye for emerging trends, John transitioned to real-time security, continuous access, and integrated platforms, working with a leading security organization.
Today, John offers coaching, advising, and consulting services to individuals and companies of all stages. Based in Seattle with his wife and two Boston Terrier dogs, John also actively pursues real estate investment and management.
Dave Rankin
Board Member
Dave Rankin is a co-founder and executive lead at field15. He's responsible for defining the strategic vision, plotting the course, and executing the company's tactical plans for the future. Additionally, Dave serves as the principal strategist and advisor on marketing and growth campaigns for field15 clients.
Dave is the former "CEO and Publisher of The Pragmatic Programmers, the former OPEN Source Expert at The New York Time's web property, About.com, and a former senior software developer with 20 years of experience. Dave is passionate about the power of relationship-building and cooperation over competition, and he greatly enjoys his board work outside of field15 where he's able to share his message and approach with companies outside the publishing industry.
